Summer is over, what’s next?

It has been a busy summer with the release of my book, Guardian’s Nightmare, through my publisher, Divertir Publishing. I have enjoyed doing a series of book presentations at local libraries throughout the Valley, to the Brawley Rotary Club, and a book signing in San Diego. I have appreciated all the support and again I would like to thank all of those who have purchased a copy of the book.

But Guardian’s Nightmare is only one reason the summer has been busy. For two years I have been working on a young adult book that I have given two working titles to—Recipe for a Hero and The Freak Condition. Well, it has been a tough climb to finish this book while editing other manuscripts, but I vowed this summer that I would complete it. Earlier in August I met that goal. At 82,000 words it is my most ambitious young adult novel yet. But finishing it just means I begin the long process of editing the manuscript before I can get it ready to share with agents and publishers. Still, it is always exciting when you write that final sentence of a book and know you have accomplished a goal.

This book would technically be my fourth completed manuscript. The first was, of course, Guardian’s Nightmare. The second is Hero’s Way, which continues the storyline begun in GuardianHero’s Way is complete and will be published in 2015. The third is my young adult pirate novel, titled The Birthmark Blade. I am still in the process of finding a publisher for that manuscript, but I am hopeful it will find a good home and that you will be able to read a published version of that book in the future. That book involved a great deal of research, and I even took a course on the Golden Age of Piracy to prepare to write the book.

So now that summer is over, what’s next? Well, the marketing effort for Guardian’s Nightmare will continue now with a focus on seeking reviews from book review bloggers. Editing will continue on my newest book, and the effort to secure a publisher for the pirate novel will be a priority. I will be working with my publisher, Divertir, to get Hero’s Way fully ready for publication, and I will be pushing forward with writing the final book in the Guardian series. So the work will not end. It shouldn’t end. A writer needs to keep writing.

So stay tuned for more to come, and again thank you all so much for the support.
