A long journey

As the summer begins, I find myself really excited to report that I am nearing completion of the third and final book in my Guardian series. The writing is coming fast and furious, and I cannot wait to see what becomes of my hero, young Charlee Smelton, as she tries to save worlds from the clutches of the evil sorceress, Theodora.

This has been a long journey in writing this series—a journey that began in the late 1990s before I started work on my master’s. It was then that I wrote a draft of the first book in the series. I then put it away as I spent seven years working on my master’s degree. Once I earned the degree I had a decision to make. Revisit that manuscript or start something new. I made the decision to take a fresh look at the story, and that led me to completely re-write it. Thus between 2007 and now, I have been on this path with this Guardian series, and it has been a fun ride.

I hope all of you out there, especially middle grade and young adult readers, enjoy the books as much as I have enjoyed writing them. Book two in the series, tentatively titled Hero’s Way, should be released later this year or in early 2016. We’ll just have to see how long it takes book three, tentatively titled The Future Queen, to be released. In the meantime, if you haven’t read the first book in the series, Guardian’s Nightmare, check it out. And thank you to my publisher, Divertir, for its continued support of this series.
